Our commitment to an excellent trainee experience has the following key features:
Subject lead tutors, both primary and secondary, are based in schools that are centres of excellence in their subjects. For example, our Lead Schools have specialisms in Science and Engineering with Skipton Girls’ High School gaining national recognition in STEM. (See Subject details).
Our high quality professional learning programme, designed and delivered by skilled teachers many of whom are engaged in current research, addresses core content and national priority areas. Central training is in outstanding schools allowing all trainees to experience good and outstanding teaching.
Placement schools are in clusters including Craven, the greater Bradford area and Harrogate. Contrasting placements within clusters enable trainees to develop strengths in adapting teaching to all students needs. The extended second placement (January to June) allows them to build their practice through strong relationships with pupils and colleagues.
Our wide-ranging support team, from mentors to administrators, is committed to ensuring that individual trainees are able to access the training they need to become accomplished teachers in our schools and beyond.
